This is a health literacy conference, so what’s the connection between health literacy and health equity? And does addressing culture advance or impede health equity? Finally, could using an “expanded model of health literacy” help us to answer these questions and, in doing so, help to more effectively advance health equity in the United States of America? Let’s see.

This presentation explores how pop culture influences health literacy, particularly nutrition. We'll examine how media shapes public perception and health behaviors, review successful community health campaigns that leveraged pop culture elements, and practice integrating these elements. Additionally, an interactive activity will engage participants in creating their own innovative components for health literacy programs, fostering more informed and health-conscious communities.

This presentation will review a playbook intended for anyone who aims to create an Equity-Centered Place-Based Community of Practice in Mental Well-Being and Resilience. The contents of this playbook will address the creation and implementation of a CoP with a focus on equity and inclusion for mental health and resiliency. By leveraging the principles of a Community of Practice approach, we aim to support communities across Arizona to effectively address mental health challenges faced by their local populations by refining current practices and empowering resilient communities.

Insights Gained from a Group-based Expressive Writing Intervention for Caregivers
This panel presentation will convey insights gained from conduct of a randomized controlled trial designed to test efficacy of a group-based, remotely delivered expressive writing intervention for caregivers of persons with cancer. The project is rooted in a larger initiative called "Creative Health Collaborations," which encourages the use of arts approaches in various settings to improve health outcomes for individuals and communities. We will share preliminary findings and lessons learned to demonstrate innovative, access-oriented approaches to nurturing health and wellbeing in vulnerable populations - from arts, psychological science, clinical/ community, and student perspectives.
